Trainee Accounts Assistant – Lowestoft

We’re on the lookout for a Trainee Accounts Assistant to work alongside our Lowestoft accounts team whilst studying for your AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting with our recognised apprenticeship training provider.

Key responsibilities

Business Services

  • Undertake/assist with bookkeeping tasks (bank reconciliations, purchase/sales invoices, etc) for clients 
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns for clients and submit to Senior/Manager for review
  • Assist with the preparation of annual accounts to support the team
  • Provide support to clients via telephone, email etc

Administration

  • Liaise with clients where required
  • Ensure electronic and physical client files are complete and maintained fully
  • Returning client records
  • Answering the telephone when reception is unavailable

Business Development

  • Build positive relationships with clients in day to day work
  • Promote the services of the business to clients and potential clients

Team

  • Communicate effectively with others in the team
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in order to meet the objectives of the business
  • Contribute to team meetings and put forward ideas and feedback in order to improve ways of working

Health & Safety / Environmental Health

  • Implement the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Follow the company’s procedures, as described in the Health & Safety Policy
  • Report anything unsafe to the Director and report accidents, near misses, and so on in the accident book

General

  • Salary £12,000 (first-year apprenticeship rate)
  • Undertake any other tasks that may be reasonably requested
  • Annual leave allowance 21 days + Bank Holidays
  • 37.5 hours per week – Flexible hours with core hours between 9.30am-4pm
  • Minimum entry requirements: 5 GCSEs , 3 A-Levels or equivalent business or accountancy qualification (AAT level 2) preferred, but not a requirement
