Senior Bookkeeper – Norwich (Outsourcing)

REPORTING TO: Finance Partner 

ROLE SUMMARY:                           

We are looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to work within our new Outsource Finance team based in the Norwich office. The Outsource team provides an in-house finance service for our clients. We use cloud -based software to manage day-to-day tasks and provide our clients with the financial information needed to help grow their businesses.

Ideally you will be AAT qualified and / or have had several years of experience in a practice or industry environment.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Outsourcing is a fast-growing department within Farnell Clarke. We are a small friendly team which
works together and with the latest cloud technology to service our clients’ financial requirements
efficiently. Each member of the outsource team has designated clients, and with this comes frequent
communication, swiftly ensuring we build strong relationships and are valued members of our
client’s team, freeing up their time so they are able to focus on their business.
Bookkeeping is the bedrock of everything we do. Utilising apps we can accurately and efficiently post
and reconcile transactions, with the added bonus of reducing laborious data entry. We are always
researching the market for tools which will enhance accounting processes, constantly trying to
improve. The accuracy of the information we provide monthly; management accounts & cashflow
forecasts is wholly reliant on the bookkeeping and is hugely appreciated by our clients.
Management information, produced in a timely manner, ensure business decisions can be made and
clients can be reactive.
We are very much focused on each member of the outsource team, encouraging and supporting
CPD and career progression.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Services

  • Oversee bookkeeping tasks (bank reconciliations, purchase / sales invoicing, etc) for clients
  • Adapt processes and accounting tasks to meet our clients’ requirements
  • Work with our clients to introduce tasks and software which bring efficiencies to their processes
  • Prepare UK and International payment runs for client approval
  • Pay employee expenses
  • Prepare VAT returns and carry out internal checks for review by Assistant Manager
  • Assist with the preparation of management reporting including updating month end schedules
  • Post accruals and prepayment journals and maintain the clients fixed asset registers.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients
  • Provide support to clients in person, via telephone, email and e-meetings
  • Update internal records for completion of tasks to track progress

Administration

  • Oversee management of our client’s accounts@ in-boxes, stepping in to answer queries where necessary
  • Ensure electronic client files are complete and fully maintained
  • Review Bookkeepers tasks and progress using our internal checklists and procedures
  • Support bookkeepers training

Business Development

  • Build positive relationships with clients in day-to-day work
  • Recognise unproductive tasks and work with others, leading to implementing more efficient processes
  • Promote the services of the business to clients and potential clients

Team

  • Communicate effectively with others in the team
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in order to meet the objectives of the business
  • Contribute to team meetings and put forward ideas and feedback in order to improve ways of working
  • Assist with training of other team members
